What do a pirate ship bar, Captain Ron quotes, and geographical misunderstandings have in common?
They are the reason these two kids swiped right. Patrick commented on the photo of Shelby jumping off the Willy T just off Norman Island. Shelby saw the sun-kissed man in the photos and smiled. Patrick referenced Captain Ron, a film known as a cinematic masterpiece to the Brown family. So began a kismet conversation between two native Louisvillians...only, Shelby lived in New York, thinking Patrick did too. Patrick thought Shelby was a New Yorker who moved to Louisville. It didn't take long before they were laughing at the misunderstanding, but it did take consideration...what now?
Both of them had moved all around. Both had had adventures, both had followed joy, both lived 700 miles away from the other. By the time Shelby had gotten back to New York, Patrick had asked, "Next time you're here, can I buy you a drink?"
"You still want to take me out? I don't live in Louisville."
"What do we have to lose?"
Nothing to lose, but everything to gain. Daily talks turned into nightly FaceTimes, turned into visits, turned to future plans. What started as a drink at a Japanese horror movie themed dive bar turned into promising forever with their perfect little pup.
At the end of Patrick's first visit to New York to see Shelby, he was hopping on the NJ transit to get to the airport. He kissed her goodbye and whispered "Let's jump with no net."
They jumped, they fell, and they caught each other.
We can't wait to for you to celebrate our love in October. See you soon!
